GIVING BACK … OUR PASSION
To celebrate their 35th anniversary, Atlas partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Smith County in building a barn style playhouse for their fundraising event called Playhouses on the Plaza. Atlas’s playhouse was displayed along with seven other themed playhouses on the downtown Tyler plaza during the last week of the Azalea Trail, which was auctioned off. It’s not the first time the business has donated their skills to Habitat for Humanity – in 2014 they helped raise the walls on the nonprofit group’s 101st home built in Tyler, Texas. Atlas will be partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Smith County again for Playhouses on the Plaza 2018.
WE ARE MAKING A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY:
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF SMITH COUNTY
Smith County Habitat for Humanity offers this dream to those who would otherwise not be able to afford a home of their own. The new home owners help to build the house alongside many dedicated volunteers in the community. Habitat sells the house to the home owner at cost and finances the mortgage at zero interest.
Habitat provides capital, not charity. It creates a stable environment for children in safe and communal neighborhoods that work and grow together. Local churches, businesses, individuals, foundations and civic organizations work together in our community to make this dream come true.
But that’s not all we do. Your Smith County Habitat makes critical repairs on the homes of low-income seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. Last year, we completed 85 critical repair projects and we’re on the road to completing even more projects this year. Plus, through our A Brush With Kindness program, we paint the exterior of homes, thus revitalizing entire low-income neighborhoods.
